sports coach UK, with the support of national partners (Sport England, DfE, Youth Sport Trust, afPE, the CSPN and Compass) has revamped the Coaching in Primary Schools Portal following recommendations from schools across England.
The Portal is a free to access resource for schools identifying a need for coaching through the Primary PE and Sport Premium. With just a couple of clicks, Head Teachers and PE Leads can find all the information they require to effectively and sustainably recruit and deploy a coach in their school.
We’ve recently given our free-to-download app a new look, added even more valuable content (lots of it free!) and we’ve improved the functionality so you can highlight and add notes to articles.
Employing Coaches: New eLearning demystifies some of the challenges clubs face
Are you responsible for employing coaches in your club or organisation? We understand that employment law can be quite daunting. There are many things you need to consider that you might not be aware of. The ‘Employing Coaches’ interactive module will demystify some of the challenges and questions you may face when using both employed and self-employed coaches. The module also provides direct access to tools that can help you, such as an example contract for services, for use with self-employed coaches.
Refresh and update your understanding of safeguarding at your convenience
Did you know there is now a new way to update your understanding of safeguarding? Developed in partnership with the NSPCC’s Child Protection in Sport Unit (CPSU), the ‘Renewal: Safeguarding and Protecting Children in Sport’ eLearning course is an alternative to attending a face-to-face workshop.
The course also includes two modules that give you the chance to look at two important areas of safeguarding you might not have great awareness/experience of – Positive Sports Parent and Safe Communication with Digital Kids.
As it is a refresher course, it is not appropriate if you have not had previous safeguarding training or are under 18. Most governing bodies of sport recommend coaches refresh their safeguarding training at regular intervals (eg every three years)*.
Did you know many sports coach UK workshops include practical sessions so you will have the chance to put what you learn into practice? Coaches tell us it’s one of the main reasons they enjoy them so much! Don’t just take our word for it. Click the links above to find out more about how these four coaches benefited.
